Prenatal Support Testimonials

“Wow! Talk about language accessibility! Last month, my OBGYN said I would take a diabetic test and explained the procedures. I received the information through an interpreter. She wasn’t terrible. I understood it could affect the baby and place the baby at risk. Still, the information was through a third person.

However, my very own doula [Dare 2 Doula by Salerno] who speaks my language, she and I had a direct conversation about this test. She gave me the formal name of this diabetes, gestational diabetes which was not visible to me during the appointment. Then, she proceeded to explain that it’s also to discover if the mom developed diabetes during pregnancy. I never got that message. I never knew it could affect me as well until my DEAF Doula gave me direct access to the information. So, if I received a positive test via email, I would have never known to change my diet as well.

Yes, my body weight and other factors show my risks for this diabetic disease are very low—however, small details matter. When you know something as a whole and become educated about it, you are safer.  I’m honestly grateful for her and the little differences she makes. Ladies, if you’re pregnant, please use her services. She’s worth it. Dare2Doula by Salerno “

Birth Support Testimonials

July 2022

I want to take a special moment to thank Salerno RL Salerno and her Deaf-owned business, Dare2Doula by Salerno, for being so engaged with my baby’s birth. During the first month of my pregnancy, I knew I wanted someone to sign and support me in researching medical information to help me prepare for birth. In addition, it helps you to learn how to cope with birthing. Salerno is extremely knowledgeable about many aspects of pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum care. She stepped in and stayed with me for a whole nine months. She was there to talk when I got lost about baby information. She was there to explain many medical terminologies through ASL. I’m very saddened about how many mothers go through a journey without realizing what types of rights they have in the hospital and the power to instruct the doctors about how they want their birthing experience to look like and what their beliefs are.

It DOESN’t matter if YOU ARE a Deaf or Hearing mother; there are so many things women don’t even know about their BODIES, the birthing process, medical treatments, and such. The more educated you are, the more powerful you become.

I strongly recommend women empower themselves with knowledge and use their business to support their pregnancy, birthing experience, and postpartum experience. I couldn’t possibly have done this without her. In fact, she stayed throughout my entire labor and saw it all. The good, the bad, and the whole nine yards. She stayed by my side. She was collected and calm and kept my head on my shoulders. She stayed awake watching my contractions pattern on the screen while I fell asleep and the nurses left the room.

She kept a close watch on me. She is certainly reliable and will be there for you. If you’re pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, please use her services. I highly recommend her.
